The UCO does not find suspicious movements in Begoña Gómez’s accounts | Spain

The Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard has not found suspicious “movements” in the accounts of Begoña Gómez, wife of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. This is stated in a new report sent to Judge Juan Carlos Peinado, who required the agents to analyze different documentation collected in the case that is open against the wife of the socialist leader. “In summary, the banking information agrees with the development of the professional activities that Begoña Gómez has been developing, insofar as the entities to which she has been professionally linked correspond to the main payers that are identified,” concludes the document, to which EL PAÍS had access.

The agents add that they also analyzed “certain income in one of the accounts linked to the company Transforma TSC, but “no new notable “movements” were identified “that could be related to the events” under investigation.

The letter from the armed institute comes after the person in charge of the 41st investigative court in Madrid, Juan Carlos Peinado, agreed last April to send Begoña Gómez to trial by popular jury, along with her advisor in Moncloa Cristina Álvarez and the businessman Juan Carlos Barrabés, for the alleged commission of up to four crimes. The judge took this step after two years promoting a controversial case, which began in 2024 following a complaint filed by Clean Hands. for Pedro Sánchez’s wife. The Prosecutor’s Office has requested that the process be archived.

Peinado began researching Gómez’s professional activity with businessmen and his employment relationship with the Complutense, as well as the development of a software for said study center. In these facts, the instructor focuses on the crimes of influence peddling, business corruption and brand misappropriation. Later, however, he expanded the case to try to determine whether a diversion of public money occurred by hiring Álvarez as an advisor to Sánchez’s partner so that she ended up collaborating with her private activity instead of with her institutional work. In this thesis he supports the alleged embezzlement.

Begoña Gómez’s defense has distanced itself from all the accusations and . She has also complained to the Provincial Court of Madrid to send her to trial and has insisted on the instructor himself until the higher body rules on the appeals that are pending resolution.
