The polls have closed in Cyprus – Battle for the first place between DISY and AKEL

The exit poll of the MPs highlights a battle between DISY and AKEL for the first place, while many parties are vying for entry into the new Parliament.

The 4% limit seems to be exceeded by the “Direct Democracy” of the MEP Phidias Panagiotou and the newly established ALMA of the former auditor general, Odysseas Michaelidis. The EDEK and VOLT parties are fighting for representation.

Great turnout in the elections

According to the available data, as highlighted by the general registrar of elections Elikkos Ilias, the final turnout rate amounted to 66.4% of all registered voters. Specifically, 378,150 people out of a total of 569,182 who had the right to vote in the Elections, went to the polls to exercise their right to vote.

During the previous parliamentary elections of 2021, the final voter turnout was 63.9%.

In the 13 election centers abroad, a total of 4,374 people voted out of a total of 6,501 declarations that were submitted.

In the 13 polling centers that operated for the election of a representative of the Maronite Religious Group, 3,175 people voted, out of a total of 4,624 registered voters or 68.7%.
