Tebet says that Luciano Huck’s talk about Bolsa Família was “wrong”

Former minister criticized the presenter’s statement about the lack of encouragement to leave the social program

Former Minister of Planning and Budget (PSB-SP) called this Monday (May 25, 2026) regrettable and “wrong” Luciano Huck’s about the lack of incentive to leave the Bolsa Família program. The statement was given in an interview with journalists at an event promoted by Rights Já! Forum for Democracy, in São Paulo.

“It’s a project [Bolsa Família] Unfortunately, we mistakenly saw someone say that there is no way out, which I say is the 2nd largest social project in Brazil”said Tebet, placing Minha Casa, Minha Vida as the largest social program in the country. In the speech, the pre-candidate for the Senate for São Paulo did not mention Huck by name.

On Saturday (May 23), Huck said that the inefficiency of public management creates a shortage of opportunities for viable social mobility.

When mentioning the city Senhor do Bonfim (BA), with an estimate of more than 13,000 families benefiting, the presenter said that “By concentrating 56% of your economy on Bolsa Família, you don’t generate any incentive for them to leave. In fact, they wanted a lot of shortcuts to stay in the program ad aeternum [para sempre]”.
