Ukraine is a global power in drones and Russia is trying to keep up: these are the new turrets with "smart ammunition" that it has just presented

Russia just presented a new weapon to counter Ukraine’s power. Known internationally—even more so by the Russians—the, Moscow wants to fight back so as not to lose weight in the two great battles. Because the war itself for Ukrainian territory is added to the other, the technological battle and global recognition.

He state-owned conglomerate Rosteca key Defense manufacturer, has recently presented a new anti-drone turreta fixed armed infrastructure that fires programmable 30-millimeter projectiles. For Russia, a huge step forward and its entry into this type of smart ammunition.

The system name is ZAK-30 Citadel and, like , it is specifically designed to combat fixed-wing drones and other aerial devices using explosive projectiles loaded with shrapnel.

The Russian public entity detailed in its presentation that the naval base of the so-called ‘citadel’ – which can rotate and its cannon move in various directions – deploys a variety of optical and radar sensors to detect and track approaching drones, which increases the efficiency of the system.

Once the ‘enemy’ is detected, the remote fuses on the projectiles calculate when to cause the explosion in the “optimal detonation point depending on the trajectory of the objective.”

The qualitative leap is evident, the manufacturers boast. They assure that “many fewer projectiles of this type are needed to destroy a single target than with conventional ammunition.”

Always according to the version of the Russian manufacturer, the new anti-drone systems have already been tested in combat scenarios and with a uninterrupted operation; that is, 24 hours a day. The company is now expected to present it more publicly at a large security and defense forum to be held in Moscow in the coming days.
