The London Fire Brigade on Wednesday sent around 100 firefighters and 15 vehicles to a massive blaze in the Golders Green district in the north of the city, home to a strong Jewish community. Flames and thick black smoke completely engulfed the well-known Jewish supermarket Kosher Kingdom.
The London Fire Brigade announced on Wednesday that it was responding to a fire in the Golders Green neighborhood in the north of the British capital, home to a large Jewish community that has been the target of numerous arson attacks in recent months. This was reported by the AFP agency, writes TASR.
Fire kosher store
Several British media reported that the fire affected the Kosher Kingdom Jewish supermarket. They posted photos online showing billows of black smoke over the area’s main shopping street.
The London Fire Brigade said the fire, the cause of which is not yet known, affected the ground floor and storage areas of the store. They sent 15 fire trucks and approximately 100 firefighters to the scene. No injuries were reported.
A series of arson attacks
A series of arson attacks on synagogues and other objects of the Jewish community took place in the Golders Green district and surrounding areas of North London. At the end of April, they also stabbed two Jews there, AFP recalled.
Little-known group Harakat Ashhab al-Jamin al-Islamiyya (HAYI), linked to Iran, claimed most of the acts, said the SITE consultancy, which tracks jihadist online activity.
