In a letter sent to the Ministry of Management, the president of the committee discussing the end of , deputy Alencar Santana (PT-SP), warned of the risk of the reduction in working hours remaining “only on paper”.
He asked the minister to reinforce the number of labor inspectors, with the call for the CNU reserve register (). Today, 1,800 approved candidates are on the register.
“Without effective supervision, the risk is that the reduction in working hours exists only on paper, while millions of workers continue to be subjected to the intensification of work and illness caused by excessive hours worked”, says the document.
The request is made because, according to the parliamentarian, the number of auditor positions has remained the same since 1990, with a total of 3,664, with only 2,680 filled. Furthermore, almost 300 auditors are already ready to retire.

According to data from the Ministry of Labor, in 2024 only 169,372 establishments were inspected, out of a total of almost 6 million spaces.
“The call for immediate vacancies in the competition, without the call for reserve registration, does not make up for the career deficit”, said the deputy in the letter sent to the government.
