The flavors of the sea are once again highlighted in Quarteira with another edition of “Petiscos do Pescador”, an initiative that takes place between the 29th and 31st of May at Jardim Filipe Jonas.
Organized by QUARPESCA – Association of Shipowners and Fishermen of Quarteira, with the support of and the Parish Council of Quarteira, the event changes location this year due to works at the Municipal Market, next to Passeio das Dunas.

According to the organization, Jardim Filipe Jonas was chosen because it is “a larger, more comfortable space designed to welcome all those who cannot do without a good time at the table”.
The initiative is part of the Fisherman’s Day celebrations, celebrated on May 31, and brings together the local fishing community once again in the preparation of traditional dishes linked to the sea.
Gastronomy and tradition mark the celebration in Quarteira
Fresh fish, seafood and typical Algarve cuisine snacks will be some of the gastronomic highlights of the event.
The organization emphasizes that the dishes are prepared “on the spot, with authenticity and soul”, helping to attract visitors to the initiative.
The program also includes the traditional “washed”, fishing art of trawling to land, scheduled for Saturday, May 30th, at 6pm.
According to the organization, this practice is part of the local Fisherman’s Day celebrations and ends with the distribution of the caught fish among the population.
Badoxa, Delfins and Augusto Canário liven up the event
The musical component will be another of the event’s strong points, with concerts by national artists over the three days.
On Friday, Badoxa takes the stage, with songs linked to kizomba and semba, including hits like “Controla” and “Eu Sei”.

Saturday is marked by the return of Delfins, a historic Portuguese pop-rock band led by Miguel Angelo and Fernando Cunha.
On Sunday, Augusto Canário ends the musical entertainment with a show dedicated to Portuguese popular music.
The “Petiscos do Pescador” are free to enter.
