Text establishes a weekly ceiling of 40 hours, two paid days off and a 14-month transition; goes to the Senate for analysis
Government officials celebrated the end of the 6 X 1 scale by the Chamber of Deputies, on Wednesday (May 27, 2026). The text presented by the deputy (Republicanos-BA), drafted together with the president of the Chamber, (Republicanos-PB), and the president (PT), establishes, in addition to the 40-hour weekly ceiling, two paid days off and a 14-month transition. It goes to the Senate for analysis.
The leader of the Government in the Chamber, (PT), used his profile on X for a video in which congressmen appear singing the song “I’m going to celebrate”by Beth Carvalho. “Increasingly closer to guaranteeing the dignity of workers”wrote in the publication.

HISTORIC VICTORY! We buried the 6×1 journey in the Chamber, the biggest victory for the working class in recent decades. Long live President Lula! Long live the Brazilian working class!

The former president of the (Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion), (PT), also celebrated on his profile on X. “This didn’t fall from the sky. It was the working class that took to the streets, to the networks, to the public debate and did not let this topic leave the agenda. When the people organize themselves, history changes”, declared.

“Historic day for workers in Brazil”a senator (PT-CE), .

The federal deputy (PT-MG) also said that the approval of the end of the 6 X 1 scale is “a giant achievement of the Brazilian working class”.

Already (PT), former Minister of Finance and pre-candidate for the government of São Paulo, used his profile on X so that “the same people who promised income tax exemption and did nothing in 4 years tried to disrupt the end of the 6 x 1 scale, but were defeated”.

During the vote on the PEC that extinguishes the 6 X 1 scale, the PL presented in the Chamber a highlight of preference for voting on the deputy’s (Psol-SP) proposal, which reduces the working day to 36 hours per week, instead of the text, which establishes a ceiling of 40 hours.
The strategy of the former president’s party (PL) was to put the Lula government in a corner. The PL, like Planalto, knows that there is no agreement to approve a reduction of this magnitude and that the proposal would be modified in the Senate, which would lead to a new analysis by the deputies. This way, the reduction would only come into effect after the elections.
The minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, (Psol-SP), used his profile on X to provoke the PL, comparing the number of deputies who voted against the approval of the PEC with the party number. “Do you know the number of deputies who voted against the end of 6 X 1? 22 deputies… Yes: 22. The most symbolic number possible of those who are against workers in Brazil!”.

The federal deputy (Psol-RJ) said that the approval of the end of the 6 X 1 scale faced “the resistance of the extreme right and the employer sectors, who tried in every way to stop this advance”. He on his profile on X: “There were maneuvers to postpone the vote, attempts to empty the text and absurd proposals to extend working hours to up to 52 hours a week, showing once again which side they are on: the side of profit above life”.

The deputy (PC of B-RJ) in her profile on X that “the Bolsonarist opposition, the enemy of the working class, felt the force of popular pressure and bowed to the demand of the majority of Brazilians”.

The deputy (PT) highlighted Lula’s role in approving the PEC in the Chamber. “Those who have a history forged by work on the floors of houses, fields and factories, like mine and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, understand firsthand the meaning of struggle, courage and hope”.

“Now the pressure is on for the Senate to approve!”the federal deputy (PT-SP).

“The fight continues! We need to remain alert and mobilized”the federal deputy (Psol-RJ).
