Black Thursday near Lučenac: The fisherman’s hut burned to the ground, the body of a young woman († 18) was found in the ruins

In the village of Veľká nad Ipľom near Lučenac a fire broke out in a fishing cabin near the local gravel pit on Wednesday (May 27). After the fire was extinguished, the body of an 18-year-old woman was found in the burning area without signs of life. TASR was informed about this by the spokeswoman of the Regional Directorate of the Police Force in Banská Bystrica, Nikola Žabková.

The fire in the fishing cabin near the gravel pit occurred on Wednesday afternoon. “A fire investigator was present at the scene, who ruled out intentional starting of the fire, stating that the fire probably started from a cigarette butt,” zoomed in on Žabková.

Professional firefighters from Lučenac, Fiľakov and Banská Bystrica, along with volunteer firefighters from Rapoviec, intervened at the scene. “After arriving at the scene, the investigation found that it was a fishing cabin fire in the third stage of the fire. Firefighters responding in self-contained breathing apparatus located the fire and then extinguished it with several fire jets. During the intervention, a human body was found in the cabin without signs of life,” the Fire and Rescue Service explained on the social network.

An autopsy was ordered to determine the exact cause of the young woman’s death. In connection with the case, the police initiated a criminal prosecution for the crime of manslaughter.
