The Inspection Service Office (ÚIS) is dealing with the death of a policewoman from the District Department of the Nitrianske Rudno Police Force in the Prievidza district and is examining all the circumstances. ÚIS spokeswoman Andrea Dobiášová told TASR on Thursday that the ÚIS has started a criminal investigation into the offense of manslaughter. She specified that the death of the policewoman should have occurred on the night of Wednesday (May 27).
- The Office of the Inspection Service started a criminal prosecution for the crime of killing a policewoman.
- A young policewoman from Nitrianske Rudno should have died by suicide on duty.
- It is said to be the second similar tragedy in the Prievidza district.
- The previous suicide of a police officer in Prievidza was a no-fault investigation.
- Police reject unsubstantiated claims of bullying and systemic failures in the workplace.
Former Minister of the Interior Roman Mikulec (Movement Slovakia) also informed about the suicide of a young policewoman in Nitrianski Rudno, according to whom she is allegedly a student of the Police Academy. He claims that this is the second unfortunate event in six months in the Prievidza district, or in the Trenčín region. According to him, the first one should have related to the suicide of a policeman. According to Mikulc, information about alleged workplace bullying should be spread in the region.
The suicide of a policeman happened last year in Prievidza. “The investigation has been completed and stopped, as it is not possible to continue it, as someone else’s culpability has been ruled out,” clarified Dobiášová.
Regional Directorate of the Police (KR PZ) in Trenčín in connection with the death of the policewoman appeals to the public, the media and political representatives to refrain from premature conclusions and baseless statements, said the head of the department of communication and prevention of the KR PZ Ingrid Krajčíková.
According to her, the Trenčín Regional Police considers it unacceptable that claims about alleged bullying at KR PZ or about system failures within PZ are presented without relevant evidence. “Currently available information does not support claims that the deceased was subjected to bullying or other illegal or unethical conduct related to this tragic event.” declared Krajčíková, according to which any association of the causes of death with the working environment or the management of KR is premature, biased and without support in the results of the investigation.
At the same time, the police strongly objected to the spread of unfounded accusations, and also refused to create the impression that there is a confirmed connection between this event and other cases reported in the media. “In none of the reported cases has so far been proven a connection with allegedly inappropriate relationships at the workplace or with KR management,” added Krajčíková.
According to her, the circumstances of the case are the subject of an investigation by the ÚIS, KR PZ in Trenčín provides maximum cooperation to law enforcement authorities and will respect the conclusions of a proper and impartial investigation. “Until its completion, we consider it necessary to approach the whole matter with respect, objectivity and responsibility towards the survivors and all the persons involved,” she clarified.
The director of KR PZ in Trenčín expressed his sincere regret over the tragic event in which a policewoman died and at the same time expressed his sincere condolences on behalf of all his colleagues to the family, loved ones and survivors, interpreted Krajčíková.
