The court in the Moscow region sentenced the manager of The Walt Disney Company to two years and six months in prison for drug crimes. the Russian state news agency TASS reported on Friday. TASR writes about it based on a report by the AFP agency.
Jugal Daterao (46), who according to the media has Indian citizenship, was found guilty after after arriving from Qatar in January of this year, fruit jelly containing narcotic substances was found during the inspection at Sheremetyevo airport, the TASS agency reported.
Daterao before the court he stated that these were drugs legally prescribed to him in the United States “to alleviate the effects of brain surgery.” the TASS agency further informed. The court found the man guilty of drug trafficking and smuggling, the RIA Novosti agency wrote with reference to the press department of the court. He will serve two and a half years in a penal colony and must also pay a fine of 30,000 rubles (approximately 360 euros).
According to his LinkedIn profile, Daterao has been working as an entertainment program manager at The Walt Disney Company since 2019. On his account on the social network Facebook, he states that he lives in the American state of New Jersey. Disney did not immediately comment on the incident.
