“More than half of France experienced at least one monthly heat record, be it minimum or maximum temperatures, during this episode, which is of colossal magnitude,” said Mathieu Sorel, a climatologist at Météo-France, at the weekend.
Between May 23-27, about 109 record low monthly temperatures and 266 record high monthly temperatures were recorded, he added.
