On Saturday night, the United States imposed sanctions on a network of fraudsters linked to Iran, who sought to obtain sensitive technology for the Iranian armed forces from American companies. TASR informs about it according to the AFP agency.
“This network defrauded dozens of US technology companies of millions of dollars by impersonating legitimate US firms,” stated the spokesman of the US Department of State Tommy Pigott, according to which they tried to obtain modern equipment for the Iranian defense sector in this way.
The spokesman did not name the technology companies involved. According to the ministry, they were lured into trading through fake websites which “impersonated real US firms, using intermediaries in Dubai to receive shipments and then smuggle the technology into Iran in violation of US sanctions”.
At the same time, the American Department of Diplomacy announced a reward in the amount $15 million for information, which will lead to the disruption of the financial mechanisms of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and their various components.
