PSOL proposes law to suspend privatization of Sabesp – 05/30/2026 – Panel

State deputy Carlos Giannazi (PSOL) presented a bill in an attempt to reverse the privatization of , one of the hallmarks of the governor’s administration (Republicans).

In the text of the project, filed with the Legislative Assembly of São (Alesp) this Friday (29), the deputy justifies his proposal by citing news “of water shortages, tariff increases and worsening service provision”.

Giannazi cites, as an example, the rupture of a Sabesp pipeline this Thursday, which left part of the population of São Paulo without water. A and said she was mobilized to normalize the service.

The deputy’s proposal provides for authorization for the Executive to promote privatization measures within 90 days. “The project aims to repeal law 17583/23, which in practice took control of the state from Sabesp and handed it over to shareholders hungry for profit at any cost”, says Giannazi.
