Shooting at subway station in SP leaves 6 injured

Three men tried to rob an off-duty civil police officer in the center of São Paulo

Six people were injured in a shooting at the São Bento Metro station, in the center of São Paulo, this Saturday afternoon (May 30, 2026). Three men tried to rob a civil police officer who was off duty. The agent reacted and there was an exchange of gunfire. Among the injured were an 11-month-old baby, the child’s father and a 14-year-old teenager.

The civil police officer was shopping in the central region of São Paulo when he was approached by the 3 criminals at the entrance to São Bento station, on Line 1-Blue. During the shooting, one of the criminals pulled a passenger and hid behind him, according to the incident report obtained by the g1.

Also according to the police report, the civil police officer reported having purchased a MacBook for R$6,500 in a store on Rua Barão de Duprat shortly before the attempted robbery. The criminals would have identified the purchase and tried to rob the agent.

SHOOTING VICTIMS

The father of the 11-month-old child, 30 years old, was one of those hit by gunfire. He suffered a fracture to his left arm and puncture wounds to his abdomen and left thigh. He was taken to Santa Casa, where he underwent surgery. One of the 3 suspects was also shot during the confrontation.

Police officers helped the child injured during the action. Two other victims were transported by Metro teams. The 4th and 5th victims were rescued by the Fire Department.

The SP Metro reported in a note that “Metrô security agents worked in support of the Military Police to respond to a public security incident, which began at the entrance to São Bento station”.

“The incident was conducted by the Military Police. During the case, a report that an individual had accessed the road forced the temporary stoppage of train circulation on the stretch, for on-site inspection, which ended up not being confirmed”reported.
