Valletta – Prime Minister Robert Abela’s ruling Labor Party has won the early general election in Malta, according to projections. Cheers erupted at the counting center in Naxxar on Sunday as officials announced the result. Fireworks were set off in several places on the Mediterranean island, which is part of the European Union. Abela called a year-early parliamentary election in April.
