The governor of , Celina Leão (PP), performed surgery on Saturday night (30) to place a drain in the chest. The procedure took place to treat a pneumothorax and lasted about half an hour.
After the surgery, Leão went to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) for observation and the expectation is that she will remain there until Monday (1).
In a video published on her Instagram, the governor said she went to a hospital after feeling chest pain and shortness of breath. These symptoms are consequences of an accumulation of air between two layers of the lung, he explained.
Leão took over the government of the Federal District after the resignation of the former governor (MDB), who left office to seek a seat in the Senate in this year’s elections.
She was responsible for finding a solution to the crisis experienced by BRB (Banco Regional de Brasília), which has problems due to its involvement in the Banco Master case.
The initial plan was for Leão to seek a second term as governor with the support of Rocha, but since she took office the two have broken up and support is uncertain.
