Conflicting information is being recorded about the future of the president of , , as a report by the opposition television network Iran International claims that he submitted a resignation request to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, while Tehran categorically denies the relevant allegations.
According to Iran International, the Iranian president sent a letter to Khamenei’s office requesting that he be relieved of his duties, citing a serious domestic political crisis. The publication says that in his letter, Pezheskian expresses strong concerns about the functioning of state institutions, arguing that critical decisions are made outside official government mechanisms and that his government has effectively been sidelined from managing important state affairs.
The same sources link the alleged decision to internal strife within the country’s political and military establishment, citing the growing influence of circles linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
However, shortly afterwards, a representative of the Office of the President of Iran denied the information via a post on the X platform, calling the related reports “rumors” and “communication games”. In his statement, he maintained that President Pezheskian continues his duties as normal and that reports of his resignation are untrue.
“The spreading of rumors by the disreputable foreign television network is a continuation of its previous ridiculous communication games. They published their desires as reality. President Pezheskian will not stop serving the people, just as the Iranian people will not abandon the path of unity and resistance. Those who wish to break the national unity of Iranians will take this wish with them to the grave.”
So far there has been no official announcement from Pezheskian himself or the Supreme Leader’s office confirming the resignation report. Therefore, the information remains unconfirmed, with the Iranian presidency categorically rejecting the related claims.
The case highlights the climate of intense political mobility that prevails in Tehran, without, however, so far being able to verify the validity of the reports about the departure of the Iranian president.
