The plane crashed at 8:08 a.m. (2:08 a.m. CEST) at the end of the runway at an air base in the southern port city of Kaohsiung, the ministry said. The Air Force has established a task force to investigate the cause of the crash. An Air Force spokesman declined to provide further details.
The AFP agency reminds that in January, an F-16 fighter jet crashed into the sea off the east coast of Taiwan during a routine training flight. It is believed that the pilot ejected from the plane, but the authorities have not been able to find him.
