Let’s start with a little etymology, i.e. the science of the origin and history of words and their meanings. Specifically, with the verb “to fuck”, a rather crude expression for “to have sexual intercourse”. According to the relevant dictionaries, the verb comes from Middle High German and originally referred to mating in birds, before it was also used for human sexual intercourse from the 15th century onwards and was then widely used by Goethe (“and after that I come at night / and fuck her, everything crashes”).
