decided to file a lawsuit with the Federal Supreme Court against Lula (PT), accusing him of having committed crimes of threat and incitement to crime.
The reason was a speech by the president this Tuesday (2). When criticizing Flávio for having encouraged the Donald Trump government to apply sanctions against Brazil, Lula cited the hanging of Tiradentes and asked what the senator and his allies deserved.
“They are traitors. For less than that, Joaquim Silvério dos Reis, who denounced Tiradentes, was hanged. What do traitors to their country deserve, who are going to ask for intervention from a country in our country? Think, think, meditate”,
Lula, in fact, got confused in the sentence, since the person hanged was not Reis, but Tiradentes himself, the martyr of the Inconfidência Mineira.
Flávio’s allies considered the statement to be serious, because it encourages possible attacks. One aspect remembered is the stabbing that former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) received in the 2018 campaign, in Juiz de Fora (MG), by a militant with a left-wing trajectory.
This Monday, the American government threatened to impose new tariffs of 25% on Brazil for unfair economic practices, and the issue immediately became a campaign topic.
