Manjericos, sardinhadas, popular marches, maypoles and dances once again mark the month of June in the municipality of Castro Marim, with another edition of Santos Populares, which takes place between the 9th and 27th of June.
The program promises to bring music, entertainment and celebration to various locations in the city, keeping alive one of the most emblematic traditions of the popular calendar.
The dances and festivals will take place in different parts of the territory, passing through Furnazinhas, Castro Marim, Altura, Azinhal, Rio Seco, Monte Francisco, Alta Mora, Junqueira, Barrocal and Odeleite.
Associativism maintains the tradition of popular masts
The associative movement once again plays a central role in boosting Santos Populares in Castro Marim. Several communities in the municipality host dances and festivals at their headquarters, also contributing to the production of traditional popular poles.
The initiative aims to strengthen the connection between local communities, parish councils, the municipality and associations, preserving a tradition that continues to mobilize residents and visitors.
Popular marches and Grande Arraial de São João highlighted
The popular marches are one of the most anticipated moments of the program and will be presented at Praça 1.º de Maio, in Castro Marim, on June 12th, starting at 9:00 pm.
The highlight of the celebrations is scheduled for June 23, also in Castro Marim, with the Grande Arraial de São João. The initiative will feature sardines for the entire population and a parade of popular marches.
Santos Populares are organized by parish councils, in partnership with various communities in the municipality.
