The SHMÚ is sounding the alarm, the warnings are already valid for almost all of Slovakia: Hell is coming!

Warnings against storms are also valid in the east of Slovakia. Currently, warnings are issued until 8 p.m. for the entire Prešovský, Košický, Žilina and Banskobystrický regions. Likewise in most of the Trenčia region and in the districts of Levice and Zlaté Moravce. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) informs about this on the website.

  • Storm warnings are currently in effect in the east of Slovakia until midnight.
  • The warnings cover the entire Prešovský Košický Žilinský and Banskobystrický regions at once.
  • The risk of storms also applies to most of the Trenčín region and the surrounding area.
  • The expected storms can bring heavy downpours, strong winds and hail.
  • A hydrological warning against a flash flood is valid for four Central Slovak districts.

According to SHMÚ, storms can be accompanied by heavy downpours with an intensity of 20 to 30 millimeters per half hour, with wind gusts of 65 to 85 kilometers per hour and hail. A hydrological warning against a flash flood is currently issued for the districts of Banská Bystrica, Veľký Krtíš, Zvolen and Žiar nad Hronom.
