Trump Media and Rumble file lawsuit against STF minister for censorship and violation of US constitutional guarantees
The president of the Federal Supreme Court, minister, ordered the Federal Attorney General’s Office to adopt the necessary measures to guarantee Brazil’s defense in the action filed against the minister in the United States.
The decision was taken after the North American Court authorized Moraes to be formally notified by email about the opening of the process, a step that allows the processing abroad to move forward.
According to Fachin, the AGU’s actions are justified because the acts questioned by the companies were carried out by Moraes in the exercise of his role as minister of the Supreme Court. For the President of the Court, the case involves the jurisdiction and sovereignty of the Brazilian State.
BIG TECHS ACTION
The action against Alexandre de Moraes in the United States Court was filed jointly by the Trump Media group and the video platform Rumble. Companies seek to prevent the application of restriction and blocking orders determined by the minister.
The companies claim that Moraes’ decisions constitute censorship and violate constitutional guarantees of the United States. The contested measures targeted right-wing user accounts based in the United States.
CLASH WITH RUMBLE
The video platform Rumble, one of the authors of the action, has had its services suspended in Brazil since February 2025.
The suspension was determined amid legal disputes over content moderation rules in the country and non-compliance with STF decisions.
