Šalian policemen intervened in a conflict between two men, which culminated in an attack with a machete. On SNP Street in Šala the suspect, a 33-year-old man, first physically attacked a 51-year-old man after a previous verbal conflict. He then hit him in the face with the machete he had with him and caused extensive injuries, informed the Regional Directorate of the Police Force in Nitra.

Policewomen from Šala were sent to the place, who arrived together with the city police patrol. City police officers handcuffed the suspect. Police officers gave the injured man immediate first aid. They managed to keep the injured person conscious until the ambulance arrived. Subsequently, they secured the crime scene and secured the attacker’s weapon.
Investigator of the Police Force charged the 33-year-old man with felony assault in a single act concurrently with the offense of disorderly conduct. The pre-trial judge took the accused into custody. If found guilty, he faces a prison sentence of five to 12 years.
