FPE threatens to resume PEC from Regulatory Agencies – 06/04/2026 – Panel

Amid dissatisfaction with (National Land Transport Agency), opposition parliamentarians began to threaten, behind the scenes, to resume the discussion on the Agencies’ PEC.

The reason would be the agency’s decision to suspend the beginning of the process of opening the interstate road market. They asked for explanations, but accuse the organization’s general director, Guilherme Theo Sampaio, of ignoring the requests.

Parliamentarians wanted to hold a hearing so that he could explain the suspension and the market opening schedule.

In a letter dated May 21, the Front says that there is a lack of regulatory clarity and that this has generated insecurity among economic agents and consumers.

“The Front monitors with concern the lack of predictability regarding the continuity of the extraordinary window, as well as the successive postponements and changes to the initially established schedule”, says the document.

On the 11th, ANTT suspended the disclosure of the procedures relating to the companies’ request to operate interstate roads. In practice, it postponed the opening of the market. This week, the MPF (Federal Public Ministry) demanded explanations from the agency.

Under reservation, FPE parliamentarians say they will resume the debate that gives more oversight powers to the Chamber and allows, for example, directors to be summoned by committees.

In a note, the agency stated that the temporary suspension was taken due to the “need to reprocess information and reevaluate the markets involved” to provide more legal certainty and “ensure equal treatment for all interested operators”.
