FIFA presented, this Thursday (4), the details of the new pre-game ceremonies that will be adopted during the World Cup. The changes are part of a new protocol for teams entering the field and seek to increase player participation and fan experience before the start of matches.
Among the new features, the flags of both will be raised on the pitch at all games. In addition, both the starters and reserves from each team will position themselves around the center circle for the playing of the national anthems.
After that, protocol compliance will be carried out between the participants of the match. Afterwards, the captains will participate in the traditional draw that defines operational details of the confrontation, such as the choice of field and the release of the ball.
The entity also informed that other visual and entertainment elements will be incorporated throughout the event, such as the use of colored smoke, pyrotechnics and other resources aimed at improving the spectacle before the opening whistle.
“As the World Cup grows, we continue to innovate the way the game is experienced. The players and fans are the protagonists of the World Cup, and this new ceremony clearly reflects this,” declared FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
