A beautiful family vacation in Italy turned into the worst nightmare in an instant. Only 35-year-old Alexander B. died after having dinner at a restaurant by the popular Lake Garda. The local authorities have already started an investigation on suspicion of manslaughter, the website writes.
As reported by the Italian daily Corriere del Veneto, Alexander B. († 35) from the German state of Baden-Württemberg was on vacation in the picturesque town of Lazise. At the end of April, he went out for dinner at a local restaurant with his wife, two small children (2.5 years and only a few months old) and his father.
While the wife and children ate something else, father and son bet on fish. But that turned out to be their fate. Just a few hours after dinner both men began to suffer from immense pain, severe nausea and vomiting.
The frightened family immediately alerted the rescuers. However, when the ambulance arrived at the scene, they could no longer help the young father – 35-year-old Alexander was dead. His father was extremely lucky and survived the poisoning. Fortunately, the wife and babies had no symptoms.
Italian prosecutors are trying to determine whether there is a direct link between the food and the death of the tourist, who was perfectly healthy before the incident. The main investigative version is severe food poisoning.
The exact cause of death is still under investigation. An autopsy has already been performed at the Borgo Roma Hospital in Verona, but the complete laboratory results of toxicology and the presence of dangerous bacteria are still awaited. What exactly Alexander ate is still unclear. According to available information, his father should have ordered a salmon pizza.
The case is already being dealt with by the German prosecutor’s office in Mosbach, which requested access to the investigation files. The young man’s body was already transported to Germany, where he was subjected to another autopsy. However, the Italian authorities have the main say in the investigation, who are investigating who is to blame for this incomprehensible accident.
