The Swiss team received good news on the eve of the World Cup. Striker Breel Embolo had his visa for the United States approved and will join the squad later this week, the Swiss football federation said on Thursday (4).
“We have just been informed that Breel Embolo’s visa has been approved. He will be able to travel to the United States and is expected with the team on Friday night,” the organization said in a statement.
O. The striker’s absence worried the coaching staff, as Embolo is one of the team’s main offensive references, with 24 goals scored in international matches.
Last season, the striker played for Rennes, in France, and scored 10 goals.
According to the British press, the migration problem was related to a conviction resulting from a disturbance that occurred in Basel, in 2018. Embolo was convicted of threats in 2023 and chose not to appeal the decision, which led to the case being analyzed by the North American authorities.
The definition took place after a meeting held at the United States Embassy in Bern, on Wednesday.
