Explosion in the Black Sea: A naval drone exploded near the Romanian port of Constanta

Emergency services are responding to the Romanian port of Constanța after a naval drone exploded there. According to initial information, the incident did not claim any lives.

A naval drone exploded in the Romanian Black Sea port of Constanta on Friday. Rescuers and firefighters are on the scene, informs the Agerpres agency. According to her, the explosion occurred at sea. According to initial information, the explosion caused no casualties, writes TASR.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the drone was found in a port near the headquarters of the Romanian Agency for Saving Human Lives at Sea (ARSVOM) and exploded at approximately 10:30 a.m. (9:30 a.m. CET). It happened at a time when the authorities were assessing the object. The area was then isolated and secured.

A drone deployed in war

The Ministry of Defense said the drone did not belong to the Romanian army and that it was the type used in the war in Ukraine. The prosecutor’s office is already investigating the case.

The incident comes a week after a residential building in the Romanian city of Galati, located near the border with Ukraine, was hit by a Russian drone, according to Bucharest. A 14-year-old boy and a 53-year-old woman suffered injuries at the time.
