According to the Ministry of Defense, the drone was found in a port near the headquarters of the Romanian Agency for Saving Human Lives at Sea (ARSVOM) and exploded at approximately 10:30 a.m. (9:30 a.m. CET). It happened at a time when the authorities were assessing the object. The area was then isolated and secured.

The Ministry of Defense said that the drone did not belong to the Romanian army and that it is the type used in the war in Ukraine. The prosecutor’s office is already investigating the case.

The incident comes a week after a residential building in the Romanian city of Galati, located near the border with Ukraine, was hit by a Russian drone, according to Bucharest. A 14-year-old boy and a 53-year-old woman suffered injuries at the time.
