The PGR (Attorney General’s Office) asked, in a new statement to the STJ (Superior Court of Justice), that the investigation opened against the former minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, in 2023, be processed again in the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
The investigation concerns a process that investigates deviations in the purchase of 300 respirators to combat Covid-19, worth R$48 million, but which were never delivered.
In May last year, the TCU (Federal Audit Court) analyzed the case and removed any responsibility from Costa, who at the time was governor of Bahia and president of the Northeast Consortium.
However, the criminal investigation remains unanswered due to changes in the rules of the privileged forum, which made the process go through several instances.
When contacted, the minister’s advisors did not respond.
