The former president’s son attributed his father’s weakened condition to the “system that decided to destroy him”
The former councilor (PL) said, this Saturday (June 6, 2026), that his father, the former president (PL), “continues to have deteriorating health” and “suffering with the constant hiccups“. The statement was made in a publication on X.
“I’m sure this is a consequence of the terror they impose on him daily since the system decided to destroy him”, wrote Carlos Bolsonaro.
Carlos stated that he spent the Corpus Christi holiday in Brasília, with his 3-year-old daughter, his father and his brother, senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ).
Jair Bolsonaro has been under temporary house arrest since March 2026, authorized by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court, Alexandre de Moraes, due to health problems.
Carlos also said that he is now returning to Santa Catarina, where he is a pre-candidate for the Senate for the PL. He resigned in December 2025 from his mandate as councilor in Rio de Janeiro to move to the state and contest the 2026 election.
“I return to Santa Catarina to continue walking with the people, as President Jair Bolsonaro has always asked and done, something he greatly misses”, stated Carlos.
BOLSONARO’S HEALTH
Bolsonaro had already reported recurring health problems since the stab wound he suffered during the 2018 election campaign. The hiccups are mentioned by allies as part of the complications associated with the former president’s clinical condition.
On Friday (June 5), medical bulletin by the team accompanying Bolsonaro reported an increase in the frequency of hiccups in the previous 7 days. According to the document, there was an increase in the doses of medication used to control the condition and a low acidity diet was recommended.
The bulletin also reported that Bolsonaro was on the 35th post-operative day after surgery on his right shoulder and was still undergoing medical care at home. Despite the complications, the document stated that the former president had no cardiological instability and had his blood pressure under control.
