Fred Vasseur, Ferrari boss, admitted to hospital in Monaco

French leader undergoes medical examinations and will remain under observation; team did not reveal reasons for hospitalization

Ferrari team principal, Fred Vasseur, was admitted to a hospital in Monaco this Saturday (June 6, 2026) and will be under observation. The Italian team did not provide the reason for the hospitalization or details about the French leader’s health status.

Due to hospitalization, Vasseur will not attend the 3rd free practice and qualifying for the Monaco GP at the Monte Carlo Circuit. Ferrari confirmed the absence in a statement.

“Fred Vasseur will not be present at the circuit today [6.jun]. After some medical examinations, Fred will remain under observation at a local medical facility. No additional medical information will be released. We wish Fred a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the track soon.”the team reported.

Fred Vasseur arrived at Ferrari in 2023 to occupy the position of team principal. He took over the role left by Mattia Binotto, who had been at the helm of the team since 2019 and ended his 28-year career with the Italian team.

Before managing Ferrari, the Frenchman worked at Renault and Sauber/Alfa Romeo, teams that adopted different names throughout the period in which he was involved.

In free practice at the Monaco GP, Ferrari performed outstandingly and placed its drivers in the top positions. In the 1st session, Charles Leclerc led, followed by Lewis Hamilton. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished 3rd. In the 2nd training session, Hamilton took 1st place, Leclerc was 2nd and Verstappen repeated 3rd place.
