Shooting attack leaves one dead and five injured in central Israel

A coordinated shooting attack left one dead and five injured in the Sharon region, in central Israel, this Sunday (7), in a sequence of actions that covered at least four locations close to the Green Line, the border that separates Israel from the occupied West Bank.

The attack began at a gas station near the entrance to Kochav Yair, where two people were shot, one in serious condition and the other in moderate condition. The assailants continued towards Tzur Yitzhak, where two more injured people were found. The deadliest stage occurred on Highway 5533, near Tzur Natan, where a man in his 30s was shot dead and another was seriously injured.

Israeli security forces “neutralized” a suspect after locating a vehicle used in the attack, according to police, who said they were also searching the area to see if there were others involved. An Israeli security source identified the suspect as an Israeli citizen from Tayibe, an Arab city located north of Kochav Yair.
