Paços de Ferreira City Council is ensuring the travel of hundreds of 4th year students to the Algarve, in an initiative that includes a plane trip and a visit to Zoomarine, in Albufeira. The project involves 512 elementary school graduates and is being carried out throughout the month of June, with matches organized by several municipal schools.

According to the news portal, the first group, belonging to Escola Básica de Freamunde, landed at Faro Airport on the morning of Monday, June 8, immediately starting the program of activities at the Zoomarine theme park. The trip marks the start of a logistical plan that will extend to all participating schools.

Project presented as a remarkable experience

During the beginning of the initiative, Mayor Paulo Ferreira highlighted the impact of the program, stating that it is a “more than deserved gift” for the students. The mayor also added that this is an experience that “will forever be etched in the memory of all these children. All of them, without exception”, in an intervention associated with the moment of departure of the first group.

According to the same source, the initiative was previously marked with the symbolic delivery of vouchers to students at EB1 in Freamunde. The ceremony was attended by municipal managers and representatives of the educational community, including the Secretary of Education, the director of the school group and the school coordinator.

Plan extended to the entire municipality

The project was structured to serve all children who complete the 1st cycle in the municipality, in a logic of widespread participation. According to the same source, the objective is to promote shared experiences between students from different schools, ensuring equitable access to the trip and scheduled activities in the Algarve.

In the following weeks, new classes from several schools in the city will travel to the south of the country. Among the establishments involved are units from Arreigada and Seroa, Meixomil, Penamaior, Carvalhosa, Paços de Ferreira, Frazão, Eiriz, Sanfins, Ferreira, Figueiró, Raimonda and Lamoso, thus completing the set of participants planned for this edition.
