Commercial associations defend alternative PEC to 6×1 – 06/08/2026 – Panel

In the week in which it defines the rite of the PEC at the end of , the Confederation of Commercial and Business Associations of Brazil (CACB) publishes a manifesto letter against the proposal approved in the Chamber and says that workers must have the freedom to decide how much they want to work.

In the document, the entity says that “real life does not fit into a closed box” and that it cannot be imposed on everyone.

“The real Brazil does not work in a ‘one size fits all’ format. The seller who supports the house on commission needs time to sell, not time off required by law. And, in the end, you are the one who pays the bill: in the price of the lunch box, in the supermarket purchases, in the bus fare and even in the cost of the condominium”, says the CACB.

The confederation chaired by Alfredo Cotait Neto comes out in defense of the opposition’s PEC, which provides for payment per hour worked. The text, authored by the senator (-RN), came under criticism from the left.

“Do you want to work fewer hours a day to be able to study or take care of your children? You can. Do you want to work more in December, when the movement is up, to enter the new year without debt? You can,” says the document.

The entity’s idea is to put pressure on senators under the argument that workers must decide their own lives.

“What is at stake is not just a change in the Constitution. It is your freedom of choice”, he concludes.
