Leaders of the country’s main trade unions released a letter criticizing the opposition’s proposed constitutional amendment, which aims to be an alternative to the end of the 6×1 scale.
The PEC, authored by senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), won the
Unionists state, in the letter, that the proposal will promote the precariousness of formal jobs.
“In real life, employees do not negotiate on equal terms. They are often forced to accept exhausting working hours because salaries are insufficient to cover their basic needs”, says the text.
“This is a setback that paves the way for aberrations such as a possible ‘7×0 scale’. It is not difficult to imagine the consequences for the worker who refuses to comply with inhumane demands in a work environment subjected to such pressure.”
The letter is signed by presidents Sérgio Nobre, of CUT (Central Única dos Trabalhadores); Miguel Torres, from Força Sindical; Ricardo Patah, from UGT (General Workers Union); Adilson Araújo, from CTB (Central dos Trabalhadores do Brasil); Antonio Neto, from CSB (Central dos Sindicatos Brasileiros); Sonia Zerino, from NCST (New Workers Union Central); José Gozze, from Pública; and Nilza Pereira, general secretary of Intersindical.
