Fans of Legally Blonde can now celebrate: the universe of the iconic Elle Woods is about to gain a new life on Prime Video. Entitled Elle, the series will be a prequel to the films starring Reese Witherspoon and will follow the character’s adolescence long before she entered Harvard and became one of the most beloved lawyers in pop culture.
Amazon’s confidence in the project is so great that production has already been renewed for a second season even before the premiere of the first year, scheduled for July 1, 2026. The decision demonstrates the studio’s investment in the potential of the franchise, which remains popular 25 years after the release of the original film.
In the plot, we will meet a young Elle Woods during her high school years, in the mid-1990s. The series will show the experiences that helped shape the optimistic, determined and confident personality that won millions of fans in theaters. Actress Lexi Minetree takes on the role of the protagonist, while Reese Witherspoon participates behind the scenes as executive producer through Hello Sunshine.
The recently released trailer shows Elle facing the typical challenges of adolescence, including new friendships, romances, school conflicts and the search for her own identity, without giving up the charisma and striking style that turned the character into an icon.
In addition to the nostalgia for those who grew up watching the films, Elle promises to introduce the character to a new generation. With the second season already confirmed and in development, Prime Video makes it clear that it intends to turn Elle Woods’ return into one of its main projects for the coming years.
The first season of Elle premieres on July 1, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.
