Rarely has a budget speech been awaited with such great excitement: on Wednesday from ten o’clock, Finance Minister Markus Marterbauer (SPÖ) will present the double budget for the years 2027 and 2028 to the National Council. The government’s goal: an exit from the EU deficit procedure. To achieve this, the coalition of ÖVP, SPÖ and Neos wants to save 2.5 billion euros in the federal budget over the next two years.
