Historic moments unfolded in Barcelona as he blessed the Tower of Jesus, the tallest tower, envisioned
The ceremony took place exactly 100 years after Gaudí’s death, on June 10, 1926. With the completion of the Tower of Jesus Christ, the basilica reached 172.5 meters, making it the tallest church in the world. The ceremony was attended by King Felipe and Queen Letitia, as well as the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez.
The Sagrada Familia is Antoni Gaudi’s greatest work and one of the most recognizable monuments in the world. Its construction began in 1882 and is still ongoing, more than a century later. Gaudí himself devoted the last years of his life almost exclusively to the project, which he perceived as a “Bible in stone”.
