The Workers’ Party took advantage of this and launched this Thursday (11) the “play for Brazil” campaign. This is yet another strategy to reinforce the motto that the current president defends national sovereignty amid the threat of new tariffs from the government of .
“When we’re on the field, we are sovereign. We don’t lower our heads, we dribble and shout for a goal. Whoever wears the shirt and shows that they are a warrior, doesn’t run away from the fight, the Brazilian people. They call those they know, know how to value them. The fans shout ‘Lula is my player'”, says an excerpt from the song.
The play mixes scenes related to football, such as young people playing football, with political messages. In one of the moments, a man lifts his Brazilian team shirt to show that he is also wearing a blouse with a photo of Lula printed on it.
In the video, the traditional green and yellow used by the team – appropriated by Bolsonarism as an identification symbol in recent years – is also mixed with the red of the team. One of the five stars of the Brazilian team was replaced by the party’s red star.
In another part of the campaign, a woman makes a payment via . The system was one of the arguments used to open a commercial investigation against Brazil and against national products. It will be up to the American president to decide whether or not to apply the fees.
The video from the president’s party still makes direct reference to the main flags of the current government. The end of the 6×1 scale and the programs Desenrola, Gás do Povo and Agora Tem Especialistas are mentioned.
The “Lula plays for Brazil” campaign is being shared by Lula’s allies on social media. The president of the PT, Edinho Silva, the minister of the General Secretariat, (), and the deputy leader of the government in Congress, (PT-RJ), are some of those who have already endorsed the online campaign.
