How to use AI to choose Valentine’s Day gifts

According to the “Among Us” study by MindMiners, 78% of couples usually buy something to mark Valentine’s Day. Recently, this search has received increasing support: artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot.

They are used to raise ideas, compare possibilities and even help with planning the celebration. The advancement of this use accompanies a broader change in consumer behavior.

According to a survey carried out by the platform, 54% of Brazilians have already made purchases of products or services directly influenced by AI recommendations. In other words, technology is already used in purchasing decisions, including on commemorative dates.

AI in choosing gifts on Valentine’s Day

According to a Globo survey on Valentine’s Day 2026, 29% of participants intend to use it to find inspiration for gifts19% to compare prices and promotions and 17% to actually choose the gift.

Thus, the AI starts to function as initial support for those who are still in doubt about what to buy. Instead of browsing through multiple pages, categories and filters, the user can perform a search and receive more contextualized answers.

By receiving data such as budget, interests and profile of the person receiving the gift, these tools are able to suggest more aligned options.

“This reduces search time, increases confidence in the decision and makes the journey more fluid. AI has already evolved from a support tool to a true digital shopping assistant, accompanying the consumer from discovery to the final choice of the product”, said MBA professor at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) and specialist in digital strategy, Kenneth Corrêa, to CNN Brasil.

Prompts for finding your boyfriend’s gift

To arrive at more useful answers, it is necessary to provide as much context as possible to the tool, be it ChatGPT, Gemini or another AI. Information such as price range, personal tastes, routine, style and occasion help AI offer less generic options.

The idea is simple: the more specific the request, the better the result. Instead of just asking for “a gift”, state in the prompt who will receive it, how much you intend to spend and what type of option makes the most sense for the person.

Furthermore, AI can also be used to go beyond product selection. It can help create personalized texts, assemble cards, suggest themed playlists and even organize the celebration experience.

Five examples of prompts that can help you find a Valentine’s Day gift, but remember that you must enter your partner’s specific information:

  • I want gift ideas worth up to R$200 for my boyfriend, who likes rock, travel and gastronomy;
  • Compare gift options between R$100 and R$300 for a person interested in fashion and explain the positive and negative points of each one;
  • Create a romantic itinerary for Valentine’s Day in São Paulo with a total budget of R$500;
  • Suggest a personalized message, a card and a playlist to accompany the gift;
  • Indicate creative gifts for Valentine’s Day considering the person’s hobbies, routine and style, with options for different price ranges.

AI helps, but trust and security remain decisive

Despite the practicality, the recommendation of artificial intelligence does not replace checking the consumer himself. This is because prices may change, stocks may run out and the suggestion does not always represent the best option available at that time.

Therefore, it is important to check gift suggestions on different channels, such as marketplaces, official websites and physical stores. It is also worth checking the seller’s reputation, purchase conditions and other information that is not always analyzed by AI.

5 tips to check the AI’s suggestion before buying the gift from:

  1. Search on different channels: even when AI suggests a product, it’s worth comparing prices on marketplaces, official websites and physical stores;
  2. Check the seller’s reputation: check reviews, exchange policies and delivery times before completing the purchase;
  3. Be wary of promotions far below the market: excessively advantageous offers may be indicative of fraud;
  4. Check the delivery time: the closer it is to the commemorative date, the greater the risk of logistical delays;
  5. Prioritize secure payment methods: use recognized platforms and check the recipient’s details before confirming payments via PIX.

According to Valentine’s Day research, the appear among consumers’ preferred media. In any case, expert advice is to use recognized platforms, check the recipient’s data before completing a PIX and consider virtual cards when purchasing online.

“The virtual card allows greater control over transactions, as many banks offer options to limit amounts, monitor purchases in real time and even block use immediately after payment. This increases the consumer’s ability to react to any suspicious movement”, explains Azify’s banking infrastructure and CRO specialist, Gustavo Siuves, in a message to CNN Brasil.

In the end, artificial intelligence can speed up the discovery of options and reduce indecision, but it does not eliminate traditional purchasing criteria. Trust, price, delivery time and store reputation continue to be decisive factors in the final choice.
