Durigan: agendas that exceed the fiscal limit will be vetoed

The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, said that the government will veto matters approved by Congress that violate fiscal rules and, if the veto is overturned, it will go to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to question the texts. The statement was made in an interview with Warren Investimentos recorded last Friday (12) and released this Monday (15).

“Whatever exceeds the country’s fiscal limits, the Fiscal Responsibility Law, the Constitution and this year’s Budget Law will be vetoed by the President of the Republic and, if the veto is overturned, we will go to the Supreme Court to guarantee the country’s health and the strength of our economy”, stated Durigan.

According to him, the Executive will continue “fighting” in Congress so that the so-called bomb agendas do not prosper, with dialogue, but already warning of the possibility of going to court if necessary.

He cited the Rural Debts renegotiation project as an example. He said that the elections have gained importance in Congress and parliamentarians are looking for support at the grassroots level. For him, the agreement reached with the senators on the topic was better than the approved text, but the agreement was not fulfilled.

“Under the pretext of meeting a certain flag, to elect a certain deputy, we are putting agribusiness itself at risk – not to mention the country’s interest rate and the economy as a whole”, added Durigan.
