President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) recorded a video to declare support for the former mayor of Recife and PSB pre-candidate for the government of Pernambuco, João Campos. It is the first explicit declaration of support from the PT member, who also maintains a cordial relationship with governor Raquel Lyra (PSD), who will face Campos.
The video was published by João Campos on social media and, within an hour, it had more than 18 thousand likes and 2,320 republications on Instagram. In the recording, Lula recalls the alliance he had with the former mayor’s father and grandfather, former governors Eduardo Campos and Miguel Arraes, respectively.
My party and I are supporting João Campos as a candidate for governor of the state of Pernambuco. This is a historic commitment and it is a commitment that is the result of a productive relationship, a relationship that produced results, a relationship that brought a lot to Pernambuco.
In a speech at the end of last month, in Caruaru, Raquel Lyra stated that Lula had given her support in the federal government’s partnerships with the State and criticized Campos’ group for claiming to have a “monopoly” on the president’s support.
“We achieved a partnership with President Lula when many said they had a monopoly (on getting closer to) the President of the Republic.”
This is the second video recorded by Lula over the weekend, where he declares support for allies, which resonates on social media. In all cases, accounts linked to the president were not responsible for the dissemination.
Also this afternoon, a video of Lula was disseminated in support of the re-election of senator Veneziano Vital do Rêgo (MDB-PB). The content was passed on by the parliamentarian’s team. On the occasion, Lula addresses his “friends from Paraíba” and says that he had an “honest and committed relationship” with Veneziano.
“He did not lack the help that the government needed. Therefore, I wanted to ask you, voters of Paraíba, that we need to return Veneziano to the Senate, because it is a guarantee that, by winning the elections, I will have more peace of mind to govern this country”, says the president.
In the same way that Raquel Lyra maintains a good relationship with Lula, in Paraíba, other pre-candidates for the Senate await the president’s support: former governor João Azevêdo (PSB) and the mayor of Patos, Nabor Wanderley (Republicans), father of the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB).
