Today, Slovakia is experiencing a significant meteorological crisis, and the territory of the country will be divided into two different worlds. As the southern and western districts prepare for a heat wave caused by an influx of extremely warm air from Africa, the eastern and northern half of the territory will be affected by potentially dangerous storms in the next few hours, writes the website.
Due to the moist northwesterly flow and the influence of the cold front, cumulus clouds will begin to form in the early afternoon. The first storms will strike in the north in the Žilina and Prešov regions, from where they will gradually move towards the south and southeast. For Orava, Kysuce, Liptov, Horehronie and the whole of eastern Slovakia, they therefore apply from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. meteorological warnings. By the evening, the situation should gradually begin to calm down.
Residents in threatened regions should prepare for dangerous accompanying phenomena, especially for torrential downpours and falling of smaller hail. Increased caution is necessary especially in the Košice region, where meteorologists do not rule out the occurrence of supercell storms. At the opposite end of the republic, in the south and west, on the other hand, temperatures will rise to 30 °C today, while the worst of the heat wave awaits us this coming weekend.
