It is possible to see panicked people trying to move away or duck for cover as the suspects flee down the street, pursued by several police officers who were on patrol in the area, one of the city’s main tourist attractions. The shooting occurred just meters from a parked police vehicle.

The shooting occurred around 3:40 p.m., after the parade in honor of the New York Knicks, NBA champion, took to the streets of southern Manhattan. Authorities reported that 10,000 police officers were mobilized to ensure security at the event celebrating the Knicks’ first title in 53 years.

A 17-year-old was shot last weekend in the heart of Times Square, police said, where fans were celebrating the Knicks’ latest victory over San Antonio. Police took the victim to the hospital because an ambulance could not get through the crowd.
