We will never give up our right to enrich uranium, says Iran

The president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, said this Sunday (June 21, 2026) that the country will not renounce the right to enrich uranium and that the United States “you have no choice but to accept this”. The Iranian nuclear program is one of the central points of peace negotiations between Iran and the USA to end the war that has been going on for almost 4 months.

Despite not backing down on maintaining the program, Pezeshkian said that, to seal peace, the country is willing to give guarantees that it will not build a nuclear bomb. According to him, Iran never intended to produce nuclear weapons.

“What the United States demands is that Iran not build an atomic bomb. This is nothing new, and we can state in writing that we have no intention of building a bomb”said the president.

“However, we will not give up our right to uranium enrichment, and the other side will have no choice but to accept that right.”he declared.

Also on Saturday (June 20), the US denied that the channel is blocked for commercial vessels. This Sunday (June 21), the Iranian agency Fars published that access to Hormuz is indeed closed by the IRGC and cites sources linked to the Iranian army.

The Persian announcement angered the US president (Republican Party), who has free passage through Hormuz as one of his main priorities.
