Lula-Alcolumbre dialogue is blocked by Messias, but it will be resolved, says Fávaro

Senator and former Minister of Agriculture Carlos Fávaro (PSD-MS) said this Saturday (20) that the relationship between the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), and the President of the Federal Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), is still “stuck” since the rejection of the nominee for the name of the Attorney General of the Union, Jorge Messias, for the Federal Supreme Court (STF). He assesses, however, that the issue will “resolve itself”.

“It’s stuck, but I trust in politics, I trust in dialogue. I’ve already sought dialogue between the two, as other colleagues have also sought. In time, things will mature and dialogue will prevail again”, he told journalists in an interview during a railway sector event in Dom Aquino (MT).

Still, Fávaro states that there is no expected timeframe for the relationship between the two to be reestablished. “I don’t know and I can’t say that this happens before the election campaigns start, but politics always finds the way. Just as water always finds the way, politics always finds the way too,” he said.

The climate between Lula and Alcolumbre has meant that agendas considered important for the federal government, such as the proposed amendment to the Constitution (PEC) to reduce working hours and the bill (PL) on critical minerals, remain stalled in the Senate. No processing.

Both congressmen and the productive sector complain that the issue causes a type of lethargy in matters considered essential for the economy or for the elections and ask for an agreement between the leaders of the Executive and Legislative branches.
