Suplicy celebrates 85 years with mass and Marijuana March – 06/21/2026 – Politics

The state deputy (-SP) began the celebrations of his 85th birthday this Sunday morning (21) with a mass celebrated by the . The event took place at Capela São Judas Tadeu, located on the campus of Universidade São Judas, in the neighborhood of Mooca, on the east side of the capital of São Paulo.

The event in the multicultural space brought together several political leaders, including state deputy Guilherme Cortez (-SP) and federal deputy Orlando Silva (-SP), as well as activists such as , coordinator of the MSTC (Movimento Sem Teto do Centro), and religious leader Pai Rodney de Oxóssi.

Greeted with shouts of “very axé”, the parliamentarian spoke about his career and emotional ties. “I want to tell you that much more important than having been a federal deputy, councilor, senator and so on, is above all having made friends with you. It’s a matter of us being able to get along with people and then fighting for the things we believe in.”

In his speech, Suplicy criticized international geopolitics. “How that president lacks this desire to move towards achieving humanity’s greatest goals through non-violence, not war, not terror, bombs and everything else.”

The celebrations ended in the late afternoon on Avenida Paulista, where the deputy participated in the Marijuana March. In the act, Suplicy reinforced his defense of the use of , a treatment that he has used for two and a half years to control the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
